Basic Controls used in Warcraft 3

Click the left mouse button to choose your Hero or you can also use hotkey ‘F1’ if you double tap the ‘F1’ key the hero will be centered in the screen and it will help you find its location. After your hero has been chosen click the right mouse button to move to a position. By using hotkey ‘A’ and using left mouse button you can attack enemy heroes and creeps or simply you can use right mouse button on the opponent heroes.

By pressing the hotkey ‘A’ and using left click on you will attack the nearest enemy hero or creeps while moving onto the path. By using hotkey ‘A’ you can also deny allied creeps, towers and heroes(only in special cases) whose  health is below 25% of their max hp (Health Points) , below 10% for towers. So, I truly recommend you to practice attacking your opponent heroes and creeps by using the hotkey “A”.

Attack animation

The amount of time taken by a hero to perform an attack or cast a spell is called attack animation. Every heroes have different attack animation for short range attackers it is basically short and for long ranged heroes it is basically slow. This can be shorten so you hero can attack faster by buying items which would boost your attack speed and also in every level the time gap of attack animation shortens due to increase in its attribute “agility” but for attack animation of casting spells it is basically same throughout the whole game, Few animation for casting spells are instant.

Cancelling Attack animation

By using hotkey ‘S’ we can stop all of the attack animations instead of instant ones. Normal attack animation can also be cancelled just by moving your hero using left click. If we suppose the attack animation is .8 seconds and final attack animation is 1.2 seconds so, we only have .7 seconds to stop its attack animation. This is very important when one wants to gets last hits on enemy heroes and also comes really handy while chasing opponents.
